About Puppy School Leamington Spa

Puppy School Leamington Spa classes are run by Jenny White

Jenny WhiteHello and welcome to Puppy School Leamington Spa

Having grown up living in the countryside in a household with many varied pets, together with several members of the family being farmers or working with horses, I developed a keen interest in animal care at an early age. My love of animals led me to train and qualify as a Veterinary Nurse. After qualifying, I realised I enjoyed helping to teach, assess and train student nurses in Veterinary practice. My enthusiasm for teaching then led onto gaining employment and qualifying as a Further Education Lecturer, teaching on Animal Welfare courses at a local agricultural college for over 16 years, predominantly specialising in Animal Health, Animal First Aid and Animal Nutrition.

I share my life with my husband, 2 children, Mabel (a Labrador Retriever), 4 guinea pigs and tropical fish! I have previous experience of training my own beloved Labrador Retriever Breeze through the Bronze, Silver and Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen Training Awards and in her younger years we also participated in agility. I plan to participate in agility with Mabel when she is old enough in addition to enjoying other dog training courses (Including Puppy School training) and other activities with her.

Since 2017,  I have spent some of my spare time volunteering as a puppy socialiser at the Guide Dogs National Centre helping within a team to socialise the puppies at a critical age in their social development, which I find immensely rewarding.

Always Keen to learn and develop, and with a combined passion for teaching, dog training and puppies I am proud to have completed the extensive training provided by Gwen Bailey (Founder and Director of Puppy School, Internationally renowned dog trainer, behaviourist and author) to become a qualified Puppy School Tutor. I have an up to date Canine First Aid certificate and plan to continue expanding my knowledge in dog training and behaviour in the coming months working towards accreditation as a Registered Animal Training Instructor with the Animal Behaviour Training Council.

I have a passion for teaching and along with my love of dogs and only using positive reinforcement techniques I look forward to being able to help new owners and their puppies in their training journey together. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information and to book onto one of my courses.

Puppy School tutors come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Apart from running our puppy classes, many have thriving careers in rescue shelters and some work as veterinary nurses, dog walkers, dog groomers, dog training professionals or behaviourists. What they all have in common is a passion for training puppies and a keen interest in animal welfare and behaviour.

Our Puppy School tutors and associate tutors must undergo extensive training before teaching Puppy School classes. This includes an application and interview process, six days of comprehensive theory covering a range of topics from animal learning to lesson plans (taught by founder and director, Gwen Bailey, APBC registered behaviourist), as well as three days of supervised practical work and a comprehensive correspondence course.

We monitor our Puppy School classes regularly to ensure the highest standards are consistently being maintained. Tutors are carefully overseen by Regional Managers to make sure they are using all the skills necessary to become excellent, positive, reward-based puppy trainers. Our tutors must uphold our Code of Conduct at all times and must complete a sufficient amount of continued professional development each year.
